On May 26th, Shandong and the World Academic Symposium under the Vision of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Tenth Annual Meeting Shandong Province World History Committee was held in our school. The school Party Committee member, Vice President Zhang Yeshang attended the meeting and delivered a speech. More than 60 experts and scholars from more than 10 universities including Fudan University, East China Normal University, Hunan Normal University, Shandong University and Shandong Normal University attended the meeting.
In his speech, Zhang Yesheng introduced the basic situation of the university and pointed out that the “One Belt and One Road” initiative is a major strategic plan for the Party Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping as the core to face overall changes in the global situation. Shandong Province is the birthplace of Confucian culture and the starting point of the ancient Silk Road. It has an important mission in the implementation of the “One Belt and One Road” initiative and also has unique advantages. It is of great significance to explore the relationship between Shandong and the world from the perspective of world history. It is of great significance for Shandong to speed up its integration into the initiative and to maintain close communication and contact between Shandong and the world. He hoped that experts and scholars took this meeting as an opportunity to further deepen exchanges and cooperation and strive to build interdisciplinary, cross-school, and regional academic communities, integrate and lead the construction of the “One Belt and One Road” for Shandong Province.
At the opening ceremony, Chen Dezheng, Chairman of the Shandong World History Professional Committee from Liaocheng University made a speech. The theme report of the conference was presided over by Gu Jiezhai, a professor at Shandong University, and Zhao Wenliang, a professor at Shandong Normal University. Member of the Academic Review Committee of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, National Association for Social Sciences Evaluation Committee, Professor Li Jianming of Fudan University, Professor Yang Junming of Hunan Normal University, Professor Li Haifeng of East China Normal University, Professor Gao Chunchang of Ludong University, Professor Li Zenghong of Liaocheng University, and Professor Wang Yan of Qufu Normal University respectively He gave a lecture entitled "World History Studies in the Era of Big Data", "The Sino-Western Trade on the Ancient Silk Road," "Analysis of the Labor-Working Phenomenon during the Period of Babylon," "One Belt, One Road and Shandong," "On the Value Judgment in the Study of Medieval History," and "Development and Pitfalls - Concurrently on the Reconstruction of the Historical Perspective, etc.
In the afternoon, the academic seminars were divided into three sub-meeting forums according to the topics and research directions of the delegates.
The successful holding of this conference will further promote the development of world academic research and teaching reform in Shandong Province and even the whole country and will also greatly promote the construction and development of our school's history disciplines.
