From September 12 to 13, the 9th Cross-Strait (Binzhou) Young Student Sun Tzu Friendship Debate Competition was held in Huimin, Binzhou. The debaters from the National Chengchi University, Fu Jen University, Tamkang University and Linyi University, Suzhou University of Science and Technology, and our school revolve around “Which is more important to benevolence and rigour in terms of being a general” and “War or peace, which one is more traditional Chinese military studies”. The two debates on "war or peace" have started a heated debate.
The debaters cited the classics on the stage and talked eloquently. They were accurate, logical, and humorous. The contest fully demonstrated the essence and cultural connotation of Sun Tzu's military science, and provided a wonderful audio-visual for the audience. The feast has effectively promoted the exchange of ideas among young students across the strait in terms of ideology and culture, and has greatly inspired the enthusiasm of young students to carry forward the fine traditional Chinese culture.
The whole debate contest was brilliant and won the praise of experts and scholars on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. After fierce competition, our school team and the Taiwan University of Political Science team won the Jinsheng Cup; the Linyi University team and the Taiwan Tamkang University team won the Hongdao Cup; the Suzhou University of Science and Technology team and the Taiwan Fu Jen University team were awarded Royal Cup. Xue Mengxi of our school and Zhong Jiaxuan of Taiwan University of Political Science were rated as the best debaters. 12 players including Yang Jingjie of our school and Kang Yuwen of Taiwan University of Political Science were rated as outstanding debaters.
This debate is an important part of the 10th Cross-Strait (Binzhou) Grandson Culture Forum. It is hosted by Shandong Sunzi Research Association and Binzhou Municipal People's Government. Our school and Binzhou Grandson Research Association, Binzhou Municipal People's Government Taiwan Affairs Office, Hui The People’s Government of Minxian County and the Taiwan Sun Yat-sen Art Research Institute are organized to use the "Sun Tzu's Art of War" as a link to build a bridge of communication among young students on both sides of the Taiwan Straits through the form of debates and strengthen the youth generation on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. Friendly exchanges and cultural interactions enhance mutual friendship.
