To deepen ideological and political education and support the growth and development of young students, on the afternoon of May 15th, Sun Yinhe, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Shandong Universality of Aeronautics, delivered an ideological and political lecture titled “Loyalty, Initiative, Dedication, Diligence, Confidence -- Being Your Own Letter Carrier” to students from College of Information Engineering and College of Intelligent Construction, with which he is affiliated, in Room 215 of No. 9 Teaching Building.
During the lecture, Sun Yinhe drew on his personal insights from reading the book A Message to Garcia as a starting point, vividly recounting the touching story of the book’s protagonist who, centered around the mission of delivering a letter, displayed courage in taking responsibility, overcame difficulties and successfully accomplished the task. Combining this with exemplary cases of outstanding college students, he delved into the book’s implications and significance for contemporary college students in terms of learning and growth, career development and social adaptation from the five dimensions of “loyalty, initiative, dedication, diligence and confidence.” He encouraged young students to firm their ideals and beliefs, keep in mind the “great concerns of the nation,” firmly establish correct worldviews, outlooks on life and set of values, be guided by excellent role models, set clear goals, engage in hands-on practice, persevere, and strive bravely, advancing towards their ideals with the spiritual qualities of “loyalty, initiative, dedication, diligence, and confidence,” and actively participating in the grand cause of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
This special ideological and political lecture resonated strongly among the students. After the lecture, students expressed that they were deeply inspired and had gained a lot. They had a clearer understanding of the heavy responsibilities entrusted to youth by the times and a deeper recognition of the importance of cultivating the excellent qualities of “loyalty, initiative, dedication, diligence, and confidence.” They pledged to strive to translate what they had learned, thought about, and perceived into practical actions, contributing their youthful strength to writing a new chapter in the great journey of advancing Chinese modernization.
