As the new semester commenced, Li Weinian, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Shandong University of Aeronautics (SDUA), along with Guo Xinwei, Party Committee Member and Vice President, visited teaching venues to observe classes without prior notice, gaining firsthand insight into teaching operations and support services.
The university leaders attended a range of courses, including College English, Sun Tzu’s Art of War and Traditional Culture, Frontiers of Artificial Intelligence, Fundamental Principles of Marxism and Health Education for Preschool Children. The instructors taught with enthusiasm, while the students were full of vigor, with both teachers and students engaging in interactive exchanges that sparked intellectual thinking and fostered mutual enlightenment. After the classes, the leaders exchanged feedback with the faculty regarding curriculum and teaching material development, pedagogical research and innovation, as well as instructional preparation. They also spoke cordially with students to learn about their academic readiness, living conditions and learning gains at the beginning of the semester.
In his conversations with both faculty and students, Li Weinian emphasized that in response to the wave of the “digital-intelligent” era, teaching staff should actively adapt to new trends, prioritize the development of smart courses, proactively acquire new AI-related skills, and deeply integrate AI teaching assistants, AI learning companions, and AI learning analytics throughout the entire education process. He stressed the importance of leveraging artificial intelligence to foster innovation in teaching methods and accelerate the transformation from traditional classrooms to smart classrooms, thereby speeding up the reform of talent development models and continuously improving the quality of education.
At the start of the new semester, thanks to the collective efforts of the entire university, academic activities are operating smoothly and in an orderly manner, with classrooms demonstrating vitality and a positive atmosphere.
