Recently, the national finals of the 28th China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition came to a successful conclusion. Nine teams from College of Automation and Electrical Engineering of Shandong University of Aeronautics (SDUA) advanced to the national finals and achieved a full sweep of awards, winning one national first prize, four second prizes, three third prizes, and one excellence award.
This year’s competition was hosted by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence. It is an authoritative discipline contest in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence in China, known for its long history, large scale, broad coverage, and high professional standards, and has long been included in the National Ranking of Discipline Competitions for Regular Higher Education Institutions published by the China Association of Higher Education. The national finals brought together over a thousand outstanding teams from more than a hundred domestic universities, including Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shandong University, and Tianjin University. Thanks to their robust engineering implementation capabilities and novel design approaches, SDUA’s students distinguished themselves in the event, fully demonstrating their solid engineering practice literacy and outstanding innovative thinking abilities in areas such as robot development and intelligent system construction.
During the competition preparation phase, SDUA adhered to the integration of competition and teaching, incorporating preparation work into regular professional instruction. The university set up a specialized guidance team, selected top students from its science and innovation talent pool, and matched each participating team with a designated supervisor. Full-process, meticulous guidance was provided in project polishing, scenario testing, and defense rehearsals. After campus-level selection and a successful run in the provincial rounds, nine teams secured their spots in the national finals. Among them, the “Berry Journey Team,” composed of Wei Wanru, Su Kaiyuan, and Zhong Hengyi, won the national first prize in the Robot Innovation Track with a highly practical and wellcompleted robotic innovation project.
Going forward, the university will continue to rely on high-level discipline competition platforms such as the China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition to improve its science and technology innovation practice education system, continuously strengthen the cultivation of high-quality talents in robotics and artificial intelligence, and use discipline competitions as a key link connecting theoretical learning and engineering practice. We will consolidate the foundation for disciplinary development, stimulate students’ enthusiasm for scientific innovation and exploration, and strive to reach new heights and achieve even better results in various future national-level competitions.
